Home Sweet Home

Hi all – just an update to let you know I am HOME. I was released from hospital yesterday. I wanted to thank everyone for the cards, flowers and thoughtful gifts. It was a rough week to be away from my babies and Michael. I had the best room in the hospital. No joke, it was a suite and every staff member that came commented on it. I had a fridge, a view of Dallas skyline, ROOM SERVICE style meals instead of a plate of whatever / whenever. I think I gained 5 lbs. None of that would have mattered if the nurses and staff were not STELLAR.
If you need anything and you are in the Plano Texas area — The Medical Center of Plano should be your go to.

The staff at ER at Burleson also impressed the hell out of me. Was in and out in record time for ER and Dr. Singhal was quick to get me to a hand surgeon. Not only did he get me to a hand surgeon – I feel like he got me the BEST. Dr. Steven Clark was AMAZING. He explained everything, sometimes twice thanks to pain meds. I have regained much of the use of my middle finger. But, those who know me know that if I HAD to lose the ability to bend any finger — the MIDDLE FINGER is the one.

I can’t thank David & Brenda Bott enough for taking such good care of my babies while Michael sat with me in the hospital. You guys are the best!

If you want to see pictures, leave a comment. I will get Michael to post some album or something. I don’t want to see them — Dr. Clark used words like FILET THE FINGER … I don’t need to see that.

Love to you all!! Now I am of going to have a CUPPA and binge on some Scandal!!

From this moment …

We are getting ready to embark on the road trip of a lifetime this morning and I find this tidbit in my email —

LOUP, what wouldn’t you give to live, love, and be happy, deliriously happy, forevermore?

Well, that’s just it, you needn’t give anything, LOUP. Just decide to live, love, and be happy, deliriously happy, from this moment forward.

Easy enough. See you on the road.

Sometimes, it’s easy to forget that you always have options.

That your power has remained intact.

And that everything, up until now, has just been practice for the really, really good stuff.

Honey Do

I have had a couple of days to relax and do nothing. A lot of things have changed – for the better. I needed this time to absorb it all. Also .. make lists.

I am a big list maker. I have small notebooks stashed in places, apps on my phone, lists in my head. Stuff that needs to be done, stuff that I want done, bucket list, honey do list.

Moving back into an RV full time came with a great opportunity to SORT first. The last time we moved from a 1700 sq ft brick ranch house to a 40′ 5th wheel … for weeks we had only a path through the boxes. Things we thought we wanted to keep, things we believed we would need.

This time we are afforded the chance to really go through things and let them go. I am finding this way easier than LK. He is a champ with it but I see he bothers him. The “what if I need this” voice is strong with him. Me, if I find that I have gotten rid of something that I NEED .. I get another one. Sentimental objects are a little different – but gadgets and such, it is the curse of being an Army Brat. You have to move so often, and you don’t always get to take all of your things with you, so you learn to let it go.

This time around I am trying really hard to let even the sentimental things fall away. Finding them good homes with people who will truly enjoy them and cherish them. Everything else, donated.

Collect moments not things.

Little Bit of Everything

It went from warm and sunny days to cold and rainy to cold and sunny. Ick. The leaves are still green for the most part. This is my first Autumn in North Carolina.

The cold isn’t helping me pain wise – but I am going to the pool 2x a week and working out. I am up to a full exercise plan doing about 15 reps each. Thankful that they all take place in the warm water.

My pain specialist is in agreement that we will wait until my next appointment to really see what the nerve block did/didn’t do. Next step is burning the nerves. With RF technology but burn nonetheless.

Thanks to Twila and her BFF Bev I have plants now. They liven my work area up. And my Aunt brought down two small “barrel” chairs that have low backs – they have brightened up the place.

We found compact fluorescent bulbs that replace halogen bulbs. There are 6 lamps in the RV that use halogen. They suck the energy and heat the place up. Not to mention they are spot light bright. We are making some changes that make this place more of a home to us. We both agree that moving to the RV is still the best thing ever. Only problem is I am having a hard time seeing a Rottweiler being comfy in such tight spaces and I would love to share my home with another Rottie – I miss Max. I know no dog will ever replace him. But this is the longest I have gone since my first Rottie in 1989.
